What is a food replica?

What is a custom food replica?

A custom food replica is a hyperrealistic, handcrafted model of a specific dish, molded and hand-painted to match your exact plating. Food trucks and restaurants use them as permanent, never-spoiling displays and signage. The craft, known in Japan as shokuhin sampuru, has pulled diners in for nearly a century.

Hand-built and finished piece by piece. The parfait is sculpted, not poured.

The real thing, made reachable in the US.

Most “fake food” you'll find is a lookalike. Ours isn't. Custom Food Replica is an authorized US distributor and official partner of Iwasaki, the Japanese maker credited with popularizing shokuhin sampuru nearly a century ago and still the leading name in the craft. Every replica we provide is made by their artisans in Japan, then sold, supported, and shipped by us across the United States.

For a US restaurant or food truck, that means you get the genuine Iwasaki craft without importing it yourself. We work from your plating notes, photos, and food samples, coordinate the custom build with the makers, and handle logistics and support stateside. It's the origin of the tradition, made reachable for American businesses.

Who actually makes your food replicas?
Our replicas are handcrafted by Iwasaki, the Japanese company at the origin of the shokuhin sampuru craft and still its leading name. Custom Food Replica is their authorized US distributor and official partner: we coordinate your custom build with the makers and handle US sales, shipping, and support, so you get the genuine craft without importing it yourself.
How much does a food replica cost?
Most single pieces fall between a few hundred and a couple thousand dollars depending on size, complexity, and finish. Full menu sets are quoted together. Share your menu and we'll price it.
How long does it last?
Indoors, a well-built replica holds up for 10+ years with normal display use. Outdoor and window pieces are spec'd with UV-stable finishes for sun exposure.
Is it sanitary to have near food?
Yes. Replicas are food-safe inert resin and silicone, non-porous, wipeable with standard sanitizer, and they never spoil or attract pests.
Can you match my exact dish?
Yes. We work from your photos, your plating notes, and ideally a real sample of the dish so the mold and paint match what you actually serve.

Show them before they taste it.
